Retailers Day At Baw Baw

June 23rd, 2009

Mt Baw Baw Management put out the invitation to retailers to come and check out the mountain, have lunch & learn about the exciting changes for 2009. The day was to get the ‘influencers’ well informed about the exciting changes that Baw Baw has made to make the mountain more dimensional, with the inclusions of the new freestyle features placed around the mountain and Australia’s 1st Big AirBag

45 crew that came up from various stores and were surprised by what they discovered (despite there being little snow!). The afternoon Big AirBag session was a HUGE hit with loads of crew having a go and getting addicted to the adrenaline rush of being able to launch themselves into the air without fear of hurting themselves upon landing! The tunes were pumping and Ralph from Forum was like a big Kid running to top of the in-run so he could have another go!!!

Thanks to stores that were so supportive by taking the time to come up and see what the mountain has to offer - sending staff from many of their stores:

Burton, Forum, SHQ, Helly Hensen, GreenRoom, Anaconda, Islantis, Ski & Board World, Deja Vu, Cactus Black, Rider +, Trigger Bros.

A massive THANKS go to the crew from Baw Baw for putting on a great display of what this little mountain has to offer, with the little amount of snow you can still have heaps of fun at Baw Baw

Mt Baw Baw launched Australia’s first Big AirBag over the weekend. The Big AirBag is the most exciting and talked about addition to the Australian slopes in 2009.Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort CEO Leona Turra said she was committed to freestylers, providing them with the opportunity to perfect techniques, spins and flips.“The Big AirBag is sure to get beginners and more advanced jumpers adrenaline pumping.“The bag is the ultimate way to practise jumps without getting hurt.“It is also ideal for setting the basis for skiers and boarders to get the most out of our terrain park which is bigger and better in 2009,” Ms Turra said.Channel [V]’s Danny Clayton,  who was runner up in the 2009 CLEO Bachelor of the Year, today made the first official jump to open the Big AirBag.Danny is an avid snowboarder and definitely put on a show with the first Big Jump. The Big AirBag is set up in front of a ski-jump and acts as a giant fall cushion so jumpers can practise their stunts without the bumps and bruises. It is an ideal training method for all jumpers helping to perfect snowboard and skiing skills. The launch pad is two metres high, three and a half metres wide with the bag 15 metres long, nine metres wide and two metres high.

Baw Baw Update

April 21st, 2009

With only 6 weeks to the the start of the snow season it was time to do  a road trip and catch up with the crew from Baw Baw . Tim and Dan the park managers were there to walk us around the mountain and show us the progress that has been done over summer, and I tell you  we were very impressed the boys have done a great job using the natural terrain the  new features including 2 wall rides and a heap of natural hits, some you need to find,  Baw Baw this year is one not to miss, Tim and Dan also have a few more tricks up their sleeve so keep an eye out for more up dates

“Words from Baw Baw”

To confirm the rumours going around, yes, Mt. Baw Baw is stepping it up, yet again this coming

            white season

With the help of our sponsors and volunteers, new park areas with a progressional approach have been created, playing host to numerous new features. Some manufactured, some made using organic materials, as well as multiple jibs and hits. Throw into that a few surprises that you’ll just have to come and find out for yourself.

To keep all of this in check, a dedicated Park Crew has been recruited to constantly maintain and evolve the Parks over the season.

The Wall Ride has been relocated and re-invented to improve it’s ride-ability, as well as maintain it’s

title as the Countrys Biggest

To accompany Forum’s “Battle @ Baw Baw” and “The Rider X”, we will be hosting, the inaugural ‘Mountain Park Invitational.’ A first of a kind freestyle competition “For the Bros not the Pros!”

Helping to ease the pain of the Financial Crisis, Mt. Baw Baw still has the cheapest lift tickets, with Weekends costing you $59, mid week a mere $49 and Early Bird Season Passes @ $520

Oh… and to top it all off, Yes, we are now proud owners of the first BigAirBag in Australia!
